LANDFORM DETECTIVES "THREE SISTERS"

In science we did this project called the landform detectives where you basically are given landforms to choose from and you have to figure out how they were formed and make a presentation based off your research.

My partner and I did the "three sister" mountains located in the cascade  mountaon range in oregon. Now im going to tell you a little bit about the sisters. The three sisters are located on the boundaries of Lane, Deschutes, and the Willamette. They are part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the Cascade Range. The weather on these mountains are rise from 80-90 degrees F in the summer and in the winter, -20 to -30 degrees F. The north sister, also known as “Faith”,  was the first volcano of the three that was formed. She is also the one that erodes the most. This volcano is mostly composed of basaltic andesite and is rich in iron and magnesium, as it is a stratovolcano. The north sister hasn’t erupted since 100,000 approximately years ago or more. According to this fact, the scientists’ theory is that this volcano is extinct. The middle sister, also known as “Hope”, formed after the north sister. It is a stratovolcano made of basalt. A cool fact is that this volcano has erupted andesite, rhyodacite, and dacite. It’s lava is rich in dacite and the most recent flow was 14,000 years ago. These facts prove that the middle sister was formed from the erosion of the Pleistocene and Holocene glaciers.  The south sister, known as “Charity”, is the tallest and youngest volcano of the three. It consists of basaltic andesite, rhyolite, and rhyodacite. This volcano is a stratovolcano laying over the structure of a shield volcano. The south sister last erupted about 2,000 years ago.
