HOW TO SURVIVE THE 8TH GRADE AT AdVENTURE

Hey, Jayda here, I am going to be sharing the best and worse at adventure and what can make those times harder or better in hopes to make your adventure experience amazing. AdVENTURE can be overwhelming at times and this guide will make your time here better. All the projects, deadlines, and crammed presentations could be a lot to handle at times that's for sure, but what if you had tips and tricks that could help relieve the pressure of it all. Being in 8th grade AdVENTURE student I know how many advantages this program has given me like learning how to code or collaboration because in the future those are key things that jobs will be looking for. I want you guys to realize all the benefits that come out of this program and how to enjoy your time here while avoiding problems.

First I want to tell you what to expect this year overall as far as difficulties, and what's expected of you, because trust me it's a lot! If you’re expecting to ease through 8th grade no problem and just go to highschool, GET THAT OUT OF YOUR HEAD!! It is by far the hardest year at AdVENTURE, with all the high expectations and the loads of homework it's hard not wanting to quit 25/8. First thing you should expect  is to  write tons of essays that are a pain in the butt and take quizzes on books which is extremely overall stressful. Don’t forget all the repetitive talks at the beginning of class that are supposed to take “a few minutes of your time” but end up taking most of the class period. In 8th grade just expect things to definitely change. Be prepared  to do a lot of independent work meaning there is minimum teaching from the teacher and more learning from articles, you won’t learn much so in your free time watch some extra videos. Also there are high expectations being the “legacy class” so imagine all the pressure you have on you now times two. So I just wish some teachers were more empathetic and actually didn’t take their position of power for granted and actually listened to us students.

Don’t worry, there is also so much good that comes out of this year. You will end up doing so many fun projects in your elective class and just bond with all your classmates as this one huge happy family. This year you will build cool models in elective and you will be able to make create your own project one something your compassionate about. In social studies you will learn about the world now and what is currently happening along with some american history which is mostly interesting. As I mentioned your class becomes so close together that everyone is friends with everyone  and we all just like to help each other out. Actually our class has this huge group chat with the whole class in it where we all just get to connect more with each other. I wouldn’t change this class at all, being the last single class from the original AdVENTURE has it’s perks...everyone loves you, I will dearly miss it.

If I could go back to the beginning of eighth grade and  do it all over again I would not procrastinate on anything and try to finish everything as soon as possible. I would make sure to complete all my work on time and with my best effort. Lastly, I would want to start my e-portfolio ahead of time so that i’m not waiting until the last minute to try and complete it because it gets hectic at the end of the year with all of the end of year activities and projects. But I am still happy with how my year played out I had a good time. I wouldn’t trade my experience for the world, and I finally got student of the month which is pretty rad.
